Frequently Asked Questions

Where are we going?

The whys and whats of Filmapia.

Short story - Filmapia is an online library for movies and locations.
Long story – Filmapia is an informational website that attempts to capture, explore and present various places around the planet (who knows.. beyond as well) that
• have been used as shooting locations in movies,
• Can be used as shooting locations in movies,
• Or simply are famous, stunning, inspiring or amazingly unusual.

• Filmapia is not about a street, a house or any location just because it has been used in a movie.
• Filmapia is not necessarily always about the usual tourist sites.
• Filmapia is not a static collection of movies or locations. The authenticity and the quality of the content on the website will constantly be improved, based on input and comments from avid travel and movie enthusiasts around the globe like you.

Filmapia endeavours to be a dynamic online library about movies and locations.
• You find out about that amazing location you wondered about while watching a movie.
• Your next travel plan can be enriched with information from Filmapia.
• Jump in and upload your pictures, share your travel experiences, suggest different movies, locations and scenes. Be the star!!!

Yes, it is a free website and it will always be!

The information has been gathered from various sources, viz. from our travels, friends’ inputs, local hearsay, location scouts or location managers for movies from a few cities, internet (e.g. wikis), travel magazines, in-flight magazines, guide books, etc.

Filmapia attempts to make the information as accurate as possible, by verifying it on the internet, if available or with people, if possible. If there are some inaccuracies, go ahead and point it out. The idea is to make the information freely available to all as authentic and precise as possible.

Starting out with about 150 movies, Filmapia is a continuous process of covering as many movies with fantastic locations as possible.
As you know there is still a lot of ground to cover. The list is endless.

Well, the start is with Indian movies but it definitely doesn’t stop there. Any language, any year, any film industry, any country, any city, any lane or even any slum goes, as long as it’s ……… famous, stunning, inspiring or amazingly unusual :-)

Filmapia is a free website and will have information and pictures provided by all users. Also no copyright infringement is intended anywhere on the website. If your picture has been inadvertently used on the website, we apologize.
If you would like it removed, do send us an email at info@filmapia.com with the details and rest assured that corrective action will be taken.
However, if you would like to continue sharing your picture, please do provide your name and other information, so that we will publish your name against the picture that is rightfully yours.

The pictures that you take should be more or less in the same spot of the scene and have the same background. Mind you, the pictures taken should be safe and in good taste. It will be great if you could enact the scene and be the hero/heroine or villian (if you prefer). In short, let it be as close to the actual scene as possible.

Most definitely! Currently you will have to upload it on any video-sharing website and provide the link to us.
