Synopsis

It is a simplistic tale of two warring Nayaka tribes in Karnataka. Gandugali (Shankar Nag), the young warrior and Permadi (Sunderkrishna Urs) are both henchmen of the two warring brothers. When both of them are double-crossed by their masters, they decide to join forces.

This was Shankar Nag's first movie and also won him a National award. It gained the cult classic status among the Kannada audience. This movie is loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai'. After Shankar Nag's death at 36, his wife Arundathi Nag has built a huge theatre for plays called 'Ranga Shankara' in Bangalore in his memory. It is one of Bangalore's most prized possessions.
