Croatia is among the first countries in Central and Eastern Europe that established a radio station - precisely on 15th May 1926. The appearance of Croatian television happened on the same date, but thirty years later and was perceived as quite the phenomenon in the region. HRT – Croatian Radio and Television is a national public service broadcaster, mainly financed by viewer/listener license fees and advertising. It has well exceeded a million radio and television listeners/viewers. It operates several radio and television channels, over a domestic transmitter network as well as satellite.
