Jomsom is in the upper Kali Gandaki valley at the elevation of 2713 m. it is also known as Dzongsam or New Fort. The chaotic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Nilgiri is attractive. Jomsom area is not only the most popular trekking destination in Nepal but also the access to Upper Mustang and Muktinath shrine, the important pilgrimage place for both Buddhists and Hindus. Jomsom Muktinath trekking is situated north of Pokhara, Nepal's spectacular diversity appears at its finest. The deep valleys and high mountains encircling the giant Annapurna Himalayas embrace a wide range of peoples and terrain, from subtropical jungle to a high, dry landscape resembling the Tibetan Plateau. The views of the mountains are spectacular, and the route actually crosses to the other side of the main Himalayan range for some unusual views of the northern flanks.It is reputed in Nepalese as a skyline trek. Jomsom is the gateway of the Nepal's hidden treasure "Mustang", the trekker can see the landscape of mustang and reach to the Hindu's and Buddhist's sacred pilgrimage Muktinath. Normally, Jomsom is known as the Windy Valley and it’s quite hard to fight against the wind in the day. Next to Jomsom is the Apple kingdom of Nepal, called Marpha.

How to get there

Jomsom Muktinath trek is most popular trekking region in Nepal, attracting over 75% of all trekkers (more than 30.000 annually). Trekking to muktinath ascends through rice terraces and villages inhabited by the fearless Gorkha people, renowned for their strength and as pillars of both the Indian and British armies.

The sacred temple has 108 waterfalls that resemble water flowing from taps and mysterious natural gas fires that boggle the mind.
