Located in the foothills of Nahargarh hills on the way towards Amer, Kanak Vrindavan is in a valley situated below the Nahargarh hills adjoining the Amber Fort, on Jaipur-Amber highway. Nearly 280 years back, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, liked the place as it reminded him of the mythological Vrindavan (Land of Lord Krishna). He installed an idol of Shri Govind Deoji here and a temple was built at the location. Kanak Vrindavan is said to be blessed with holy water from several rivers that was gathered to carry out an Ashwamedh Yajna. The Govind Deoji Temple, has beautiful carvings, chhatris, lattice and mirror work. The sanctum sanctorum is engraved with exotic 'panni' work. The valley is very scenic, surrounded as it is by Aravali hills. Dharbawati River also flows by, making the environs quite cool. All three forts of Jaipur look out into this valley over a distance. The complex has a series of fountains, with on fountain called Parikrama having been made out of one piece of marble.
