Seven Sisters or Painted Ladies or Postcard Row are a group of 7 Victorian homes which is a delightful and enchanting sight in San Francisco. The Seven Sisters live in Alamo Square, a locality known for its stately Victorian homes. In the middle of this square is a park that allows you to sit and ogle at the Victorian beauties. The highlight of this neighbourhood surely must be the Seven Sisters, which is a row of seven houses, although painted in different colours look identical in structure. They were originally built by Matthew Kavanugh, a builder. 'Painted Ladies,' actally refers to Victoran houses that are painted with three or more colours. The Seven Sisters will surely be on the iterinary if you chose to do a Victorian Home Tour in San Francisco. Amid the famous Alamo Square, the Shannon-Kavannaugh home is one of the "7 sisters" in Alamo Square Park.The Shannon-Kavanaugh House, built in 1892 by carpenter-builder Matthew Kavanaugh for his own family, has become one of the most famous buildings in America. The house contains 4500 square feet on four floors, set against the magnificent backdrop of the San Francisco city skyline.The interior features such as the gilded mirror in the main parlor and the working gaslights on the main floor that were salvaged from other prominent San Francisco homes.The elegant Queen Anne-style structure has become familiar through its role in over 40 films, television series and commercials. The Shannon-Kavanaugh home is mostly remembered for the TV Show, "Full House".
