Synopsis
The Guns of Navarone are two massive German artillery pieces nestled in an impenetrable German fortress on the Mediterranean island of Navarone. A team of six Allied and Greek soldiers is put ashore to meet up with partisans to try and dynamite the guns. Captain Mallory (Gregory Peck), begins suspecting a possible traitor among his comrades.

The movie is based on Alistair MacLean's novel of the same name in 1957. The movie won the Oscar Award for 'Best Effects'. In 1978 the sequel, 'Force 10 from Navarone' was released. Anthony Quinn was so taken with the Greek island of Rhodes, where the movie was shot, that he bought land there in an area still called Anthony Quinn Bay.
