In the Aravali hills, the 18th century Devi Garh Palace, in the village of Delwara, forms one of the three main passes into the valley of Udaipur. Located 28 km northeast of Udaipur, Devi Garh is a convenient and scenic 45 minute drive from the city. The fort palace has now been restored to a heritage hotel. The fort is surrounded by lush green fields and mountains on three sides. The principality of Devi Garh was awarded to Sajja Singh by Maharana Pratap in recognition of his loyalty and bravery to Maharana during the battle of Haldi Ghati in 1576 for his unstinting support to Emperor Akbar. The fort was constructed in 1760s under Raghudev Singh II.
