Situated 27 km from Ajmer is the city of Kishangarh. This city was founded by a Kishan Singh, a Rathore prince. The city houses one of the most famous schools of miniature paintings. In the present times, the city is regarded as a rich storehouse of marbles and textiles. Other main attractions of Kishangarh are its Fort and the magnificent Phool Mahal. Built in 1653 by Maharaja Roop Singh, a Rathore king, The Kishangarh Fort has lavishly carved interiors that reflect volumes about the luxurious lifestyle of the Rathore rulers.It was from here that the Bani Thani style of painting originated and gained fame in the field of miniature paintings under the tag of Kishangarh School of Painting.
