Ousteri Lake is a century-old artificial lake located 15 km from Pondicherry Town, on the Pondicherry - Viluppuram Road. A range of aquatic species is found here. This lake also serves as a bird sanctuary. Nalla Lake Village - to preserve in Ousteri Lake 60 acres of natural wetlands forest and create an exclusive village atmosphere with the required modern facilities and practicing sustainable principles of living in harmony with nature & spirit. The lake was created during the Vijaynagar rule and was reconstructed by Anandaranga Pillai at the time of his administration during the French regime to irrigate the nearby lands leased to him and provide drinking water to the city.
