Mombasa is Kenya’s second largest city. The Portuguese explorer, Vasco Da Gama, landed here in 1498 and established a Portuguese colony at the coast. Arabs from Oman later took control of the city and left their mark on the region. Mombasa has a rich, vibrant Swahili culture.
