River Kali or Kalinadi basin flows through Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, through the lush Dandeli Forest Reserve. It then flows westwards towards Karwar and empties into the Arabian Sea. At Lalguli, which is 16 km from Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district, the River Kali flows through stretches and stretches of rocks, all of which have been carved into unusual shapes due to the effect of erosion. Some of the rocks are smooth and slippery as is usual with eroded rocks. However some of the rocks have interesting geometric designs that are carved on to them. Some unusual rocks have complete holes or 'windows' through which we can see into the rock. Some rocks have jagged edges and thus are dangerous.
