Wenlock Downs, a vast expanse of grassy meadow on way to Pykara Dam from Ooty, is a favorite picnic location and is very popular with the movie makers of this country. Sheep rearing and sheep breeding is extensively done amidst the beautiful locale. The sprawling acres also captivate the fancy of golf lovers from far and wide to the Ooty Gymkhana Golf Club. Ooty to Wenlock Downs is basically a breathtaking drive of just 8 kms. Buses and hired cars are easily available in this route. The Wenlock Downs are perfect for walking and hiking amidst this elegant landscape. This is popularly known as 9th and 6th mile as they are situated exactly at the 9th and 6th mile from Ooty.
