Kutrallam, the " Spa of the South" is situated at an elevation of about 170 m high, on the Western Ghats in Siruvani in Thirunelveli district. This is not only a tourist spot but also a health resort too. The waters of this falls pass through the forest of herbs thereby gaining medicinal properties and attracting a huge crowd of believers. The waterfall has medicinal properties to cure physical ailments. Numerous rivers such as the Chittar River, the Manimuthar River, the Pachaiyar River and the Tambaraparani River originate here. Also called the Herbal Falls of India. Several health resorts are situated nearby. Located at a distance of 160 kms from Madurai in Tamil Nadu this immense water body actually comprises of nine waterfalls, the Peraruvi (Main Falls), Chitra Aruvi, Shenbaghadevi Falls, Then Aruvi (Honey Falls), Aintharuvi (Five Falls), Puli Aruvi(Tiger Falls), Pazhaya Courtrallam (Old Falls), Puthu Aruvi (New Falls)and Pazhathotta Aruvi (Fruit Garden Falls) respectively. There is also a belief that mentally ill people get cured after bathing at the falls.
